During your session at Visha Medi Spa the laser will emit short pulses of Laser light energy onto your skin. The Laser technology features an advanced setting that safely and gently penetrates your skin, targeting the tattoo ink while sparing the surrounding skin. The Laser energy bursts the tattoo pigment, and over time, your body’s immune system carries the shattered pigment away. In most patients greater than 90% fading of the tattoo may be accomplished. However, it is very important to know that over 100 tattoo inks are in use worldwide today, none of which are regulated by the FDA. Not knowing which tattoo ink, how deep or how much was used, makes it impossible for the physician to predict the degree of removal on any given tattoo. We cannot guarantee outcomes of removal or how the skin will respond (i.e. scarring or loss of pigment).
Is Laser Tattoo Removal Painful?
All tattoo lasers emit one wavelength of light in very short flashest called pulses. The impact of the energy from the powerful pulses of light is similar to the snap of a thin rubber band or speck of hot grease on the skin. The large majority of patients only require topical anesthesia. In very sensitive areas, a local anesthetic (Lidocaine) is injected before treatment to make the treatment completely painless. Some patients prefer topical anesthesia & use of cooling/ice to avoid the discomfort of needle injections.
